Mesa Verde

Hello from big and lovely Colorado. We have spent the past two days hiking and enjoying the southwest. Emily thinks that Colorado is a great place and would like to live here when she grows up. We think that there are great places to visit and hike and explore. Today, we encountered Mesa Verde again, but today explored Long House and Balcony House. It is amazing that they places were constructed. They ancient Pueblo people only lived in them for about 100 years, in the 1200's, but it is amazing that we still can see what they were like. It is a treacherous climb into balcony house (as you will see by the pictures), but we (me) made it. It is a great place to visit.

Yesterday, we went to Delicate Arch again. We love this hike (although it is up hill) but rather short. It is just spectacular!!

Meagan in real life...

Oh, how wise my 7 year old is. We have celebrated her birthday this past week, and she never stops amazing me.

Meag-ism #1 This morning she woke up and crawled in bed with Brian & me at 7 a.m. Earlier than I want to get up. She twisted and turned, and finally spoke up about what was on her mind. She said, "I am going have a great year." "Why," Brian asked. She then said because of the song they sang to me in primary, "Happy days will come to you all year." She believes it, it must be true!! Brian and her then got out of bed to make breakfast, she was certainly not going back to sleep.


Meag-ism #2 Last night, after her party, as we were getting ready for bed, she was discussing her new presents with me. One of her friends gave her a new doll that cries and "tinkles". She informed me why they have this type of doll. "Mom, this helps you for when you are a mommy." My poor youngest child, hopefully this doll will help you, but if you only knew.... We are so blessed to have Meagan in our home. She makes us laugh and cry--sometimes at the same time. She is truly a blessing, the time she came to us we needed (and received) many blessings, she was one of the most important that we received. Each day with her is a joy, I am lucky to be her mother.

Here are some pictures from her party. She has wonderful friends and nice sisters that "ran" the party (it's in their blood). Emily again made the cake--this time she tried fondant. Our movie theater was filled with beautiful, laughing, pigging out, pajama wearing girls. It was a great party.
